A letter from Dr. Daniel Kakuska, psychiatrist at The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt Hospital

Dear Robin and Pam,

I am writing to you to thank you for the excellent experience you have provided for the patients I have referred to Horse Inspired Therapy. Even though I think all of my patients have benefitted, I’m thinking in particular of one case in which a history of trauma had severely affected my patient’s ability to trust and thereby adversely affected her ability to truly connect with others. The work you did around helping her begin to connect to the horse served as a template and a springboard for a deeper connection with me around her therapy. I am truly amazed at the progress she has made over the past year. Thanks for the wonderful work you do.

Sincerely,

Daniel Kakuska, M.D.

What Horses Bring to the Therapeutic Process?

Writing an informative essay is one of the most popular tasks that students get in high schools and colleges. Yet only a few essay topics are easy to write about, and the therapeutic potential of horseback riding is not one of them. That is why we decided to prepare this short guide for you and reveal a few secrets of essay writing on this topic.

Brainstorm your topic

When writing about the horses’ effect on human mental health, you have to understand what points you would like to emphasize in your piece of writing. Consider taking two steps for that:

  1. Write a list of associations coming to your mind when you read your essay topic out loud. Do not think about how the process of psychotherapy incorporates horses directly at this moment, just write down your first thoughts about horses’ features that can be a cure for mentally ill people, how a patient can interact with them, what the benefits of horse therapy are, etc.;
  2. Try to organize your associations into logical links. If you lack knowledge about the topic, move to the next step to find out more about it.

Research it

You cannot become proficient in any subject without reading about it. Therefore, use all available sources to research your essay topic. We suggest that you start from the scientific articles and publications of the prominent authors, and then, continue to textbooks and other reference materials. At this stage, getting research essay help can be a quite reasonable action.

Formulate your thesis statement

Now that you know a lot about horse therapy, you can shape your thesis statement. Remember to make it precise and concise for your audience so that they could understand what your essay is going to be about. Do not add any comparison, metaphors, and other figures of speech to this sentence, they are neither necessary nor reasonable to use here. If you struggle with this part of writing, feel free to hire an essay writer to do it for you.

List your arguments

Now that you have your thesis statement in front of your eyes, immediately go on to drafting your arguments. At this point you do not need to shape and polish them, just list them in a few words each. Adding links to reference materials for supporting them is the next thing you have to do.

Once it’s done, outline the rest of your paper from introduction to conclusion. Now you can make an extended outline to make all the essay parts clear to yourself.

Write and edit your essay

Now, it's time to start writing your horse therapy essay. Consider starting from body paragraphs as it’s the biggest part of the work. Then, write an introduction and concluding lines, and make them correspond to each other. Once you finish writing, leave it out of your sight for some time, and then edit it the next day. Remember to format and cite your paper as well.
